Winter is typically a slow period for the renovation industry, which is why Casa Bella can offer additional discounts during these months. We have become experts at winter installations from over 50 years of experience. Below are some facts about replacing your windows and doors in the winter.
1. Do winter installations take longer?
Winter installations take just as long to do as in the summer, but with shorter lead times for the actual installation date vs. the busier summer season. We use our own factory trained Casa Bella installers so we're not rushing to get the job finished. We strive to do the best job we can each and every time as our reputation speaks for itself.
2. What about the cold air coming into my house when you take out all the windows?
We take out one window at a time to minimize the cold air coming into you house. A window can be removed and a new one installed and sealed in less than 15 minutes. Each window we manufacture is custom made to the exact measurements of your home so the installation is fast and efficient.
3. Will the windows still seal in cold temperatures?
We use industry leading sealants that are produced with the Canadian winter in mind. We have replaced thousands of windows in the winter with no effect upon the seal.
4. What if it's snowing? Will snow get into my house?
Our installers work efficiently removing one window at a time and replacing it immediately. The time any opening is left without a window is minimal. As with the rain in the summer, if weather conditions make it unsafe or difficult to replace the product, we will wait until conditions improve, then continue the work. We treat every home as if it were our own.
5. Will my energy bill spike from the cold coming into my house?
While minimizing the time any frame is left open, we also close interior doors to isolate the room while windows are being replaced. With proper thermostat controls during the installation process any energy spike will be avoided. Once the new windows are installed, you'll actually benefit from energy savings through the increased efficiency during the heating season.
6. If there's snow on the ground, won't my floors get wet and dirty from the installers coming in and out?
We always cover floors with neoprene runners and quilted blankets. We also try to have the "inside workers" stay inside and the "outside workers" stay out. Much like any other season, when weather conditions make things a little dirty, we control the mess and clean up after the job is done. Each season has its challenges and solutions…
7. Can the new window crack in the cold while being installed?
Our windows are designed and manufactured by Canadians for the Canadian market with all of our unique weather patterns in mind. They will not break or crack due to cold or hot extremes.
It doesn't matter how much you spend on your windows & doors, if they're not properly installed, you're losing out on energy efficiency, performance and cost savings!
At Casa Bella, we only use our own factory-trained installation crews. We do NOT use subcontractors or pay by piece work! We specialize in full rip out ( brick to brick) installations, in contrast to other companies who will offer cheaper retrofit applications where the existing window frame is left intact together with any rotted, damaged or poorly insulated components still in the walls.
