September is chock-full of holidays celebrating environmental activism and sustainability: Zero Emissions Day took place on the 1st, Clean Up the World Weekend is set from the 15th-17th, International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer takes place on the 16th and World Car Free Day is on the 22nd. In the spirit of a sustainable September, we would like to share with you how we are putting our efforts into being as green and environmentally responsible as possible.

Recycling Materials

Here at Casa Bella Windows, we are committed to reducing waste and minimizing pollution when it comes to manufacturing our products. We attempt to recycle large percentages of our materials in order to be as green as possible: 100% of raw material scraps (aluminum, glass, and cardboard) created through manufacturing at our plant are recycled. A percentage of our products are made with or contain recycled materials, such as glass, vinyl, and aluminum screen components. These are just some of the examples that prove how serious we are in our mission to be environmentally conscious.

Buying Local

As a window and door installation company in Toronto we benefit from being available to a large number of clients in the city and the GTA. We can easily deliver products to our local clientele, which is a simple way of making a positive impact on the environment. When project developers use a company that is nearby there is less transportation required for consultations, purchasing, or deliveries. Cutting down on transportation will inevitably take away from environmental problems like congestion and air pollution.

Another benefit of being a local company is that we can easily store products in our facility to prevent damage from outside elements like rain or snow. If a developer wanted new doors in Toronto but knew that the forecast predicted storms for several days, the product would stay safe until the delivery was rescheduled. We also do same day delivery and installation to decrease the probability of products being ruined by weather or debris, making sure that no product goes to waste.

Green Products Make Green Customers

Being an experienced window company in the GTA we understand how Canada’s harsh and unpredictable weather can impact a household. Our windows are coated with advanced weatherstripping and are installed with Warm Edge Technology, using materials like the Super Spacer and Warm Edge Spacers. The spacers greatly diminish the chances of moisture damaging the windows and causing mold, which is why our windows are Health Smart Certified. Windows and doors that are energy-efficient reduce a property’s impact on the environment.

If all the windows in a property are professionally installed with energy-efficient ones, a homeowner’s cost towards hydro bills will decrease. When a home has proper insulation, warm air will not escape the walls during the winter and cool air will not disappear in the summer. The homeowner will naturally reduce their payments for heating and air-conditioning, because the indoor temperature will be more moderate. Energy Star certified windows and doors can shrink a property’s energy bills by 12 percent and in turn shrink their carbon footprint. When a homeowner is no longer dependent on heating and cooling appliances, they are actively helping the environment.

While going green may seem difficult or costly, it is an initiative that undoubtedly pays off in the long-term. Making conscientious and careful decisions in regards to the environment will be rewarded, whether that it is with the small victory of a homeowner slimming down their hydro bills because of their energy-efficient windows, or the larger victory of making your community a better place.
